Districts

The state of Kerala came in to existence on November 1, 1956. Initially divided in to five districts, present day Kerala has 14 revenue districts with Kasargod being the last created. Idukki with a total area of 4476 sq km is the largest and Alappuzha with an area of 1414 sq km is the smallest district in Kerala. Allapuzha is the only district in Kerala that lacks forest area.
